The Youth Hostel Association's (YHA) new flagship London offering is a 15 storey, 846-bed development in east London offering guests a a self-catering kitchen, bar and restaurant area and both private and en-suite rooms.

ChapmanBDSP was appointed to carry out the full design of the MEP services installation as well as completing the environmental engineering and compliance modelling for BREEAM in support of the planning applications.

ChapmanBDSP's fire consultancy team was also able to agree a no sprinkler protection engineered solution in the building which is in excess of 30 metres in height. The extended travel distance was agreed based on a fire engineering solution.

The development utilises the Olympic legacy district heating and cooling network to minimise on-site infrastructure and maximise guest areas whilst meeting the demands of the high occupant density of the hostel.
