SW2 Your Town Hall

London, UK

Mixed use development as part of the London Borough of Lambeth’s Brixton Masterplan. The development includes 195 residences and 10,000m2 of commercial office space.

The scheme consists of the refurbishment of English Heritage and Grade II listed Lambeth Town Hall, locally listed Ivor House, a new build civic centre, the press and new residential buildings; Hambrook House and Olive Morris House.

Appointed to provide a strong design to meet targeted building services and environmental accreditations, our solutions include central district heating/cooling networks which are linked to all buildings via a central energy centre. This centre will accommodate dual fuel (gas/bio fuel) boilers and CHP along with high efficiency chillers, which will result in a carbon emission saving in excess of 50%.

The new civic centre is to house new open plan work spaces with flexible meeting rooms, designed to the latest BCO guidelines. The design will also incorporate active chilled beams for low operating costs as part of Lambeth Council’s efficiency targets.

"We want to create a new centre around the town hall in Brixton that will save millions by dramatically reducing the number of core office buildings we run from 14 to just two. With fewer, more efficient buildings we will save at least £4.5 million a year in running costs.”
