ChapmanBDSP’s regional director in the Middle East has been elected as chairman of the CIBSE United Arab Emirates committee.
Reid Donovan’s appointment was announced last night, following the group’s annual general meeting in Dubai.
Reid, who has been at the forefront of the construction industry for more than 24 years, said: ‘I’m delighted and honoured to be elected to chair the committee. I’m looking forward to making sure all our members are best placed to help clients during this important and exciting time for the Middle East.’
ChapmanBDSP, an owner led business specialising in all aspects of building services and environmental consultancy, has been appointed on some of the region’s biggest projects because of its reputation for designing and delivering sustainable environmental solutions. It employs more than 230 staff through offices Dubai, Abu Dhabi and the UK.
Reid, formally MEP Director for Arcadis Middle East, has been based permanently in Dubai for the past 10 years and specialises in project design delivery within the retail, residential, hotel and hospitality and mixed use sectors. He has worked on many high profile projects jointly with some of the world’s leading architects and clients in the Middle East, Singapore, North Africa, UK, USA, and Europe.
Ray Upjohn, chief executive of ChapmanBDSP, said: ‘We are delighted that Reid has been elected chairman of the CIBSE UAE committee. I am sure he will make a very positive contribution in this role.’
CIBSE, the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers, gained a licence operate as an official CIBSE region in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in 2016 and now has more than 300 members. At the time it was the first new region CIBSE had launched in 29 years.
